»Nightclubs to refuse entry based on gender«

Two Melbourne nightclubs have been granted permission to refuse entry to patrons based on their gender.

The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal has ruled the Chase Lounge in Queen Street and the F4 Bar in Little Collins Street can bar either men or women from their clubs because there is already too many of their sex inside.

The tribunal ruled the bars should be allowed to provide a venue where men and women can socialise and where the gender imbalance is not too great.

"It may be upsetting initially to be turned away at least for a short time until there's a proper gender balance, but I think everyone's going to thank us," a Chase Lounge spokesman said.

The exemption to the Equal Opportunity Act has been granted for a six month period.

There is such an act? And it's valid for private clubs? What the heck? Soon someone will protest that they don't let him in a nun's monastery. Silly and stupid, that's how I feel

So they're talking about Men right?

Because of course they have to rule regarding both genders or they would be seen as sexist.

Clever.

SO I see it like this (though it is an assumption and I look forward to being corrected);

A couple of nighclubs are getting too many blokes in and so they ask the courts to allow them to "limit the numbers of a particular gender".

They are granted a (non-sexist) right to limit either sex based on numbers.

They get to stop more men coming in. Everyone is happy.

.. Except Gay men White laugh

Now I could be complete wrong about this an it could be a couple of clubs where Women outnumber men, and if so I appologise.

If this is the case, feel free to correct me and post the addresses and opening times of these clubs Aaah, is there anything better than to post here and to drink something
