gkiss: allone, what is the typical, standard texan drink? i know its obviously going to be beer but what brand/type exactly? or if its not beer (HA! AS IF) then which liquor is it? i don't remember if you told me... about alcoholic drink, yeah, i guess beer...any kind of beer i guess. liquor would have to be...um...from what i have noticed at the clubs, a lot of people like bourbon around here...and tequila for shots. non alcoholic i would have to say...iced tea! everyone orders that around here...that and Dr. Pepper...i was amazed when i was in Ohio and no restaurants served it (that and the fact that when i said coke, they actually gave me coke! what is that all about?)! all restaurants serve it here, no matter if they serve coke or pepsi products. but honestly, there are soo many different types of people that drink all sorts of things...just depends on the person i guess. posted by allone |

I was wondering what 'Haggis' was..
Wash lungs and stomach well, rub with salt and rinse. Remove membranes and excess fat. Soak in cold salted water for several hours. Turn stomach inside out for stuffing. Cover heart and liver with cold water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Chop heart and coarsely grate liver. Toast oatmeal in a skillet on top of the stove, stirring frequently, until golden. Combine all ingredients and mix well. Loosely pack mixture into stomach, about two-thirds full. Remember, oatmeal expands in cooking. Press any air out of stomach and truss securely. Put into boiling water to cover. Simmer for 3 hours, uncovered, adding more water as needed to maintain water level. Prick stomach several times with a sharp needle when it begins to swell; this keeps the bag from bursting. Place on a hot platter, removing trussing strings. Serve with a spoon. Ceremoniously served with "neeps, tatties and nips" -- mashed turnips, mashed potatoes, nips of whiskey. Haggis "is typically served on Burns Night, January 25, when Scotland celebrates the birth of its greatest poet, Robert Burns, who was born in Ayrshire on that date in 1759. During the celebration, Burns poems are read, and the haggis is addressed by a member of the party, ceremonially, in the form of verses from Burns' poem, 'Address to a Haggis.' A typical meal for Burns Night would include Cock-a-Leekie, Haggis with Tatties-an'-Neeps, Roastit Beef, Tipsy Laird, and Dunlop Cheese."
Oh, and did I mention that whisky is also served? posted by ryder |

gkiss: why is sheeps lung illegal there? why not the heart and stomache too? whats the dif? The only trouble is traditional versions of the dish are banned and importing meat from Scotland is virtually impossible because of the tortuous process of winning approval from the US Food and Drugs Administration.
The hawk-eyed FDA deems lung - a common ingredient in haggis - to be unfit for human consumption, a ruling thought to date back to the 1930s when there were unsubstantiated fears about the spread of tuberculosis. It also appears *cough* that there have been a few, uh, myths, regarding the haggis (in ye olde nessie tradition I suppose).. Scots like to tell visitors the haggis is a small native animal that has adapted to Scotland's steep hills by growing legs shorter on one side. I sat in the solitude of my bedroom, when the idea came to me - radioactivity! Haggis are radioactive! A new theory! It fits! Why do haggis thrive in Scotland? Because the parts of Scotland haggis thrive best are the Highlands, and what kind of rock is prevalent there? Granite - which has a long half-life. Do haggis need radiation to thrive? Do they actually feed on radiation? Are they in fact not native to this planet after all, but perhaps some pets from a UFO which landed hundreds if not thousands of years ago, and escaped? Yes! A new theory, and one which is beginning to make sense, and to explain much about this fascinating animal.
All I can say for the moment is I am engaged in some ground-breaking research, once more venturing into the hills, and the results of this will be published first here on this website! Fame and fortune (and the babes) will yet be mine ... keep coming back for more ... sooner or later I will crack the riddle of the haggis. Sorry about the overload on Haggis, I seem to have taken a liking to it.. and I'm a vegetarian.. posted by ryder |

Well we have Gullfoss and Geysir... and the blue lagoon, that's about it. and then we also have that snow owl. The same that was killed in Dumb and Dumber (Also in that movie the Owl was supposed to be Icelandic, the rich Aspen girl says so) We also have Killer whales like Kupov, except our killer whale was Keikó, and he was famous (The killer whale from Free Willie/Willy) Hmmm...we have a mall in the shape of a human penis, Smáralind and a building in the shape of a "middle finger" finger gesture...I''ll try to find a picture of that. And that black metal band, Dimmuborgir...they are not Icelandic but the real Dimmuborgir is a "city" of caves here in Iceland, it's pretty cool... And then we have very clean water, good water. Not that crap bottle water. Some of that water comes from Vatnajökull, the biggest glacier in Europe.. and the rest is pretty mediocre [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] posted by Pawnatron |
