Heh, seems a bit hypocrytical picking on small countries on claims of things that you have your self (WOMD's,) even if Saddam did kill hundreds, since when hasn't America? I'm not having a go at America right, I'm just justifying a point. America is very intimidating, and killing a bit too wildly. I'm glad that Saddam was caught, and I'm glad his sons were killed, but bombing Bhagdad was like Japan bombing Pearl Harbour. With thorough tactics and descreat methods, the Iraq incident could have been alot less public and devestating. Why couldn't they have just used patience and tactics? And claiming WOMD's was just foolish, can't they realise that with their intimidation they can pretty much do anything. And so far the U.N. has been pretty fucking lenient. Bush say's it's a war on terror, but from what's happened he's only been spreading terror. Terrorist extremists are hard to deal with, but Bush's methods are DEFINITELY not the way to deal with them. I have very indecisive beliefs on the War on terror. If anything there needs to be a way of dealing with these things in the most non-contradictory, non-hypocrytical and non-masacistic way. Either that or just ignoring it, but getting involved can always mean saving lives. IT'S ALL SO CONFUSING! posted by hungarian kid |

hungarian kid: just ignoring it There are a lot of people who believe this is the best approach - including terrorist experts. I'm not talking about letting them get away with it, I'm talking about whoring it across the media in everyone's faces. The thinking is that one of the motivations of Terrorism is to be seen to be striking a blow against whatever nation they attack, sending a message out to the world - and especially other terrorists. Excesswive media coverage and full front page images are in some ways helping them achieve this aim. Another aim it helps is in spreading fear - the whole idea of terrorism. Western media condeming this violence is seen in the west as the voice of reason, but to the bad guys this is seen as another victory against the evil west. If the media learned to play down the news on the attacks (not a media blackout, which would have the conspiracy brigade out in force) but treat it as "also ran" news, perhaps the terrorists would have less reason to dance in the streets. More people die in car accidents than in terrorist attacks, how about proportional news coverage of that? The terrorists might give up blowing up stuff and move into automobile manufacture posted by Marl64 |
