 mymla: Let's imagine you would chose to die (if you don't mind suicide) or would be convicted to death and given a choice of how to die; anything you would chose would be possible and any means available. Well if I got to the point of seriously considering it, I would of course not want a dumb stunt of it, I'd choose the quickest (and perhaps cleanest) way out. Why don't I follow my own advice and google it myself?  Seppuku, (Sape-puu-kuu) the Japanese formal language term for ritual suicide (Hara-kiri (Har-rah-kee-ree) is the common language term.), was an intregal aspect of feudal Japan (1192-1868). It developed as an intregal part of the code of bushido and the discipline of the samurai warrior class.
Hara-kiri, which literally means "stomach cutting" is a particularly painful method of self-destruction, and prior to the emergence of the samurai as a professional warrior class, was totally foreign to the Japanese. The ritual for disembowelment was to be performed calmly and without flinching. If condemned to death, it was held to be a privilege to execute the sentence on one's own body rather than to be a disgrace and die at the hands of the public headsman. To the samurai, seppuku--whether ordered as punishment or chosen in preference to a dishonorable death at the hands of an enemy--was unquestionable demonstration of their honor, courage, loyalty, and moral character. All the matters relating to the act was carefully prescribed and carried out in the most meticulous manner. The most conspicuous participant, other than the victim, was the kaishaku (kie-shah-kuu), or assistant, who was responsible for cutting off the victim's head after he had sliced his abdomen open. The was generally a close friend or associate of the condemned. Although suicide is deplored in Japan today, it does not have the sinful overtones that are common in the west. People still kill themselves for failed businesses, involvement in love triangles, or even failing school examinations, death is still consider by many as better than dishonor. Well, um, that's bad cricket right there.

Harakiri emphasizes the slicing. Seppuku emphasizes the freeing of the spirit. posted by knn |

 I was gonna pick gunshot, but what if i misfire or the shot isn't as fatal and i end up lying there, bleeding to death, but unable to do anything. Don't want to take any risk. Electric chair..i guess. I'm hoping it's a quick death. Death by poison seems too slow. posted by sangu |

 i chose the car fumes one...i would just sit in my car eating snickers bars and peanut M&M's listening to coldplay until i fall asleep...i chose it mainly because its painless but at the same time, its slow but...i choose painless over speed... i thought about how people can shoot themselves and im thinking that i would never have the guts to pull the trigger myself (which sounds ridiculous because i would want to kill myself) but i couldnt do it, or jump off a bridge, or chair -- to me those are like...once you do theres no turning back kinda deal? but the car fumes is just like...hmmm i sure am getting kinda drowsy i think ill just rest my eyes for a minute...and then never wake up. its hard to explain...i think those ones take a lot of guts to pull off (no pun intended  ) something that i wouldnt have...so id take the chicken way out...

he put the gun into his face bang! (so much blood from such a tiny little hole) problems do have solutions you know a lifetime of fucking things up fixed in one determined flash that's only half the lyrics the other half has nothing to do with the first half. sangu: or the shot isn't as fatal the shot will be fatal if you put the gun into your mouth. posted by Kupov |
