I've always wondered about the distribution of this phrase: "It's cold as a witch's tit!" It's something people say around here when it gets chilly (even though it rarely gets below freezing here, even in the dead of winter.) But I've never heard it said when I've been travelling, so I don't know if it's just a local thing or what. I also don't know where it came from, or how people got the idea that witches have cold tits. Does anyone else say this is or hear it said? holy_of_holies: I also don't know where it came from, or how people got the idea that witches have cold tits. Witches don't freeze since they have to travel high speed on their brooms. Thus their nipples get very cold. posted by knn |

well first things first, the saying is, well the way i've heard it and for it to make sense is, "it's AS cold as a witch's tit" my only guess is perhaps witches are considered dead or undead, in which case a dead and or undead tit would be kinda cold...i think posted by The ONEder Man |

The ONEder Man: well first things first, the saying is, well the way i've heard it and for it to make sense is, "it's AS cold as a witch's tit" That's the city-fied way to say it. Nobody says the "as" except pansy-ass English majors. Can you imagine a North Florida construction worker shooting the shit with his coworkers one morning before work at the construction site and coming out with, "It's as cold as a witch's tit!" Course not. He's going to say "It's cold as a witch's tit!" Leaving out the "as" is part of the scene. posted by holy_of_holies |
