You tried already once to denounce psychiatric experiences at IMO → Use of drugs in psychiatry Her statements are completely qualified because SHE HERSELF experienced how psychiatry works ON HERSELF. I have no doubt that there are so many more patients who would agree to her statements. What is next? You tried already once to denounce psychiatric experiences at IMO → Use of drugs in psychiatry But I am not in a pro-psychiatry activist group, or going around vandalizing encyclopedia articles to suggest scientists I disagree with should prosecuted for hate-crimes! Francesca is. So I am going to look at her persona as a whole and not say, "Oh I like this particular piece of writing because it sounds so good." That's just dilletantism; you read too much garbage if you think that's good writing. knn: Her statements are completely qualified because SHE HERSELF experienced how psychiatry works ON HERSELF. I have no doubt that there are so many more patients who would agree to her statements. That doesn't mean it's not scare tactics. knn: A brilliant read. LOL, it must be brilliant because you agree with it! She writes to coerce, not to persuade, people that psychiatry is harmful. That kind of rhetoric will lead only to escalating partisan tensions and the defeat of her cause, because her whining does not have any power over the empirical sciences. holy_of_holies: Politicians have no power over what science concludes, only over how science is funded and applied. Science concludes so many things... There is not a single theory in science that isn't contested. Except maybe that the earth swings around the sun. Thus politicians decide what they think is right (pushed by lobbysists) or what the voter wants. Politicians don't even decide what the majority of scientists claim. Otherwise no country had debts since all scientists claim that debts are bad. posted by knn |

Hey, no need to get personal; I'm just pointing out the fact that during the Valley Forge of the MindSlavery movement, when MindSlavery Commander holy_of_holies had retreated from IMO to plot his next move, MindSlavery sympathizers from all across the web were at that very time flocking to Wikipedia, the Internet's very own Cathedral of Truth. Though they came from different IP's, the rallying cry was the same "For liberty, and for E. Fuiler Torrey!" Blatantly POV statements were then being smeared across the Wikipedia presence of Torrey (peace be upon him) by the iniquitous British loyalist slag who calls herself "Francesca Allan of MindFreedom BC," but, just when MindSlavery Commander holy_of_holies thought all hope was lost, a cry went up among the troops "Wikipedia User JFW is coming! JFW is on the march!" And it was true...the Marquis de JFW was moving on the Wikipedia Discussion page of Torrey (peace be upon him) and obliterating Francesca Allan's POV statements with the cold steel of scientific fact. And now that the smoke has cleared and all the dead and dismembered antipsychiatry arguments have been buried in mass graves, have a look at the Wikipedia presence of Torrey (peace be upon him,) which I will quote in part here. The poetry of the document, a charter for a new world, speaks for itself. Edwin Fuller Torrey, M.D. (b.September 6, 1937, Utica, New York), is an American psychiatrist and schizophrenia researcher. He is Associate Director for Laboratory Research at the Stanley Medical Research Institute (SMRI). The Washington Post referred to Torrey as "the most famous psychiatrist in America."
Torrey is president of the board of the Treatment Advocacy Center (TAC), which describes itself as being "a national nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to eliminating legal and clinical barriers to treatment of severe mental illnesses." TAC supports involuntary treatment when deemed appropriate by a judge (at the urging of the patient's psychiatrist and family members). Torrey has written several best-selling books on mental illness, including Surviving Schizophrenia. Not a single POV antipsychiatry statement to be found as of today, and may it always be so.
