 Last summer I worked two jobs, almost every day until school began. With all my hard earned maoney a payed for my school, bought books and a new laptop computer. A brand new 12'' PowerBook...and last night someone came into my room while I was at the cinema and stole it 
When I got home it was gone along with some other stuff. On the computer I had a 50 page script which I had written, lots of other storys, picture of me and my family and all the things I had put on it since i bought it. ...and I have no idea what to do. posted by Pawnatron |

 oh my gosh pawnatron im so sorry...that sucks. do you live in on rez? (aka a dorm room?) who could have access to your room? maybe it was someone who knew your roommate or something...did the door look like it was busted in? someone must have known that you had a brand new computer. give us some more background info on the setting/who could have been there/who has access etc... and maybe we can use some deductive reasoning skills to figure it out. i think you should def tell whoever is in charge, your landlord, rez master (whatever you guys call them) and maybe put up some flyers saying its missing or something at least ppl might be on the lookout or something you know? don't worry...fill us in on what exactly happened...what else did they take? posted by gkiss |

Hmm, well no I live in a house with 4 floors. There is a woman living on the first floor, and another woman on the second one...and then i live on the 3-4 floor, and my room is on the 4 floor. And the 1. and 2. floor can acces the 4 floor... ...well there is little information I can give you...but a wallet was also taken... I think the robber must have been on drugs or drunk or something because he only threw stuff on the floor (not looking for my computer because it was on my bed) and taking a wallte with no momey it in, except 2 cards which he has not used and have been closed... And then he took my computer and just went...and I have a 72 DVD collection and there is nothing missing...and my headphone whihch are pretty expensive...and my stereo...and my other computer, none of that was missing... I could have lost it but since all this stuff was on the floor and a wallet was taken I think i can rule that out... Also, I would NEVEN loose my computer...never ever... posted by Pawnatron |

how the hell can a burglar come up 3-4 floors oh a house and steal a computer with no one noticing? were those other two women home? did they see hear anything? i don't know how they even could have gotton in? and how did he know where to look? that's insane. and yeah i doubt you lost it or misplaced it because its not like you can just lose a computer. did you call the police? cause that's a good $1000 + right there and maybe they could have gotton prints or something and searched their database to track him down somehow... posted by gkiss |

he probably felt rushed if he only took your computer and wallet...i mean he could have taken your earphones and whatever else but he didn't...is there a window he could have climbed through? posted by gkiss |

gkiss: how the hell can a burglar come up 3-4 floors oh a house and steal a computer with no one noticing? were those other two women home? did they see hear anything? i don't know how they even could have gotton in? and how did he know where to look? that's insane. and yeah i doubt you lost it or misplaced it because its not like you can just lose a computer. did you call the police? cause that's a good $1000 + right there and maybe they could have gotton prints or something and searched their database to track him down somehow... The police? I doubt they are gonna do anything, but yeah of course we called them.. Well the woman on the 1 floor was not home, the woman on the 2 floor heard some noise but thought it her cat...and my parents heard a noise and thought it was me since i went to the cinema and came home late...and my brother was working at a club and also came home late... that's the problem, no one knows how the son of a bitch could have gotten inside my house... And i don't think he knew where my computer was or that I had a computer...he searched through coats and inside another room on the 4 floor...I just think he was drunk or something... Kinda ruins your whole frame of security thinking your home is pretty safe, all doors closed and all windows to high...also...living in Iceland we don't have many burglaries...and then you pop out for 3 hourse and some guy come inside your house.. and the spooky thing is my sister was with her friend on the 4 floor when the computer was stolen, but she had a friend over and her room was closed and she was watching a movie and laughing and listening to music...maybe that's the reason he rushed out... didn't have much time...just took the computer and ran... posted by Pawnatron |

argh im so mad! that sucks especially since you worked your ASS off for it and within seconds its gone. ok well you told the police and who knows maybe it'll turn up. at least you and your family is safe and it could have been a lot worse. im so sorry! did you have any insurance on it? sometimes ppl insure these things in case...well either way the guy is going to get exactly whats coming to him, even if he doesnt get caught. you know what i don't know if you guys have any pawn shops but typically when someone robs something they pawn it and obviously get the money and do whatever they do with it. its not like theyre going to sit at home and use your computer you know? so...maybe you can check those out and see if one has been pawned recently? at least you have another computer, and no cash was stolen...you called the police, theres really nothing much you can do right now but wait...im sorry  posted by gkiss |

i know you probably feel so helpless and you want to do something but theres nothing you can do...I HATE THAT! but...why don't you try writing up another script or...i don't know if you have homework you can do do get your mind off of it. you seem like an artistic guy so try doing something creative that requires your full concentration and attention to divert your thoughts you know? posted by gkiss |

MindSlave: Wow gkiss is like the Counselor Troi of IMO...she has empathy. well it sucks, i mean im sure everyone's had something stolen from them before, especially after they worked so hard to get it. one time our CAR was stolen from the garage and that thing was my baby...we found it about a week later abandoned in a shopping mall garage and all its wires were screwed up, they banged her up pretty bad my mom and sister and i were so upset  but we got her back...i just know what it feels like. and yeah it feel like a total violation of your life and privacy...like someone just callously took your possession away from you...it sucks major ass...

Pawnatron: But i cant write the script again I know it will never be as good as the first one... well like i said try out some of the pawn shops if you have any nearby... and true it might not be as good as the first one BUT that doesnt mean that you have to write exactly the same script...write different one and i bet you that the second one will be just as good if not better than the first one... posted by gkiss |
