allone: Yes: 'Owner of a Lonely Heart' I'd have to disagree, Yes had lots of great songs. Check out their song Siberian Khatru. Their bassist is pretty damn good too. For me it's, Proclaimers - 500 Miles But Iron Maiden are definitely cheesey, they have some cool songs (and a funk load of mediocre ones), No More Lies and Blood Brothers are my recommendations. posted by hungarian kid |

I've been previewing a ton of Nine inch Nails songs to try to find another I would like, and I finally did: it's called "Happiness in Slavery," from the album Broken . Pretty damn good. I guess I still think NIN are cheesy because I remember how all the girls at my high school played the first NIN album all the time when it first came out, and I was already into Ministry, which they thought was terrible. So I formed an image of Trent Reznor as a teeny-bopper pop-star version of Al Jourgensen, and I never really liked Reznor's music much either. posted by MindSlave |

When NIN came out w/"The Downward Spiral," everyone ran out and bought it because of the song, "Closer." I've always thought Rezor's act was a bunch of BS. When his guitarist, Richard Patrick, left and formed Filter, I became a huge fan of them just to piss off the morons of my HS. Then, add on top of that, I was listening to albums by Tool and Tomahawk and had to endure the opinions of morons who said they sucked even though they couldn't name a song by either band. Actually I would say that (except for super stars like George Michael, Prince, Madonna, Britney Spears) 98% of hits are 1-hit-onlies posted by knn |

MindSlave: There are a lot of really cheesy bands out there that I don't like at all, but sometimes they have one song I can't help but like. Here are some examples:
Van Halen - "Dreams" Styx - "Mr. Roboto" Iron Maiden - "The Number of the Beast" Nine Inch Nails - "March of the Pigs" And yes, I do consider Nine Inch Nails a cheesy band. For industrial rock of that era, you're much better off getting a Ministry album, in my opinion. But I love "March of the Pigs." LOL, I even like a Leann Rimes song, please don't kill me, but it's called "I Need You." What about you? i'd go for Closer as the cheesiest NIN track, not MOTP. they're not even industrial, more generic rock, too commercial. that song Sin is really cheesy too, a real fuckin Edam right there, boyo. bring back ministry. posted by Alan |
