»Cheesy Bands You Only Like One Song By«

There are a lot of really cheesy bands out there that I don't like at all, but sometimes they have one song I can't help but like. Here are some examples:

Van Halen - "Dreams"
Styx - "Mr. Roboto"
Iron Maiden - "The Number of the Beast"
Nine Inch Nails - "March of the Pigs"

And yes, I do consider Nine Inch Nails a cheesy band. For industrial rock of that era, you're much better off getting a Ministry album, in my opinion. But I love "March of the Pigs."

LOL, I even like a Leann Rimes song, please don't kill me, but it's called "I Need You."

What about you?

Can't agree w/you here, holy...er, MindSlave. There's alot of songs by Van Halen and Styx (especially Styx) that I like. However, your topic does hold weight. There's too many bands for me to name, however...i.e. every band in the 80s. White laugh

there are a ton of groups from the 80s that are "one hit wonders" the one that comes to mind first is Berlin with their hit, "take my breath away"...if you haven't heard it just go rent »Topgun«...they play it about 60 times in that movie

all you really need is 88mph. that's when the flux compacitor starts to work.

White laugh Man, that movie sucks. I absolutely loathe that piece of garbarge...nothing like a film where huge sequences are based around a bunch of oiled-up dudes playing volleyball and Val Kilmer chomping his teeth. What the funk is he chomping at?

haha, we always make fun of that scene and have adopted the little "high five to low five-behind the back" thing, good stuff!

just thought of another:

Yes: 'Owner of a Lonely Heart'

Boys Don't Cry: I Wanna be a Cowboy

Great stuff man, I love ranting about bad films. And »Top Gun« is definitely one of those: the flying sequences look like some kid filmed them in his closet with his toy F-14's. White laugh I can still play the Top Gun anthem (you'd know it if you heard it) on guitar. Ah, the eighties were a nightmare of decadence.

One Night in Bangkok

If we're talking amazing eighties one-hit wonders, Murray Head's "One Night in Bangkok" must be mentioned. The lyrics are truly sensual:
One night in Bangkok and the world's your oyster
The bars are temples but the pearls ain't free
You'll find a god in every golden cloister
And if you're lucky then the god's a she
I can feel an angel sliding up to me

In hindsight I have to take back what I said about Iron Maiden...I had only ever heard one album by them, their first, but I downloaded a bunch of their songs last night and there are some more decent ones, especially the ones from the album The Number of the Beast , like "Run to the Hills" and "Hallowed Be Thy Name." Iron Maiden are still pretty cheesy though.
