nope...and he's not the one flashing his ass either...although that picture is of the blackwatch...which is the local regiment of my home town...hence knowing the person (the other one with his back to the camera...at least i think its him) posted by the anomaly |

It depends on the occasion. Say, if a guy at my high school were to wear a skirt/kilt to school everyday, I would not think that person was particularly "cool"... nor would I think a random passerby in the supermarket wearing something like that would be wearing "cool" clothes... posted by nocturnal_anonymous |

Do you have a photo of you or one of your friends/relatives wearing a kilt that you'd post? Also, is it part of the tradition not to wear anything under the kilt? posted by a |

A long time ago it wasn't "cool" for women to wear trousers, imagine if we hadn't change that you'd have to still rush around wearing skirt every day even to ride the bike, to skateboard, to snowboard, to do handstand, etc. Why can't we open up our minds to men wearing skirts? It's so frustrating that you've to travel all the way to Scotland to see cute skirt/kilt wearing dudes posted by a |

It serves utility if women wear trousers, because it is easier to do a lot of things with something separating your legs and not having to worry about the wind or whatever. What purpose does wearing a skirt serve? Maybe it's more.. airy or whatever, but seriously, what's the benefit derived? Why would a man want to wear a skirt, unless he's into cross-dressing or something? //no offence anomaly, I'm not talking about traditional dresses, I'm just wondering why in normal life.// posted by ryder |

The exact same benefit as when a woman wears a skirt: you're able to check out his legs Also if men are only meant to wear trousers, it's very difficult for fashion designers to set their fantasies free & create something fresh to wear for guys b/c it always has to be the same boring pants posted by a |

a: you're able to check out his legs What are 'shorts' or 'bermudas' or whatever they're called for? a: if men are only meant to wear trousers, it's very difficult for fashion designers to set their fantasies free & create something fresh to wear for guys b/c it always has to be the same boring pants Well, I still don't get why men themselves would want to wear a skirt. I mean, I get why fashion designers would want to sell the idea to men, that they could wear real cool looking skirts, but why wear those things at all? posted by ryder |

Shorts or bermudas aren't the same as skirts, b/c they don't show any hidden secret places in a big wind (see: 2nd picture). B/c if they wore pants for 20 years in a row, they might want to fresh up their look a little bit to make their lifestyles a little bit more colorfull. posted by a |

ryder: What purpose does wearing a skirt serve? Maybe it's more.. airy or whatever, but seriously, what's the benefit derived? No, I don't think skirt-wearing evolved due to any need for ventilation. Women wear skirts as a sexual characteristic, to advertise their availability for mating. A woman has to somehow spread her legs to have regular sex, so a skirt is helpful if that is your aim. You know, you would just kind of shove a young woman against the wall of the cave/hut/castle, hike up her skirt, and make a baby! But I am a total feminist when it comes to skirts versus pants, which is rare for me because usually I am as disdainful of the "women's movement" as I am of the "men's movement." I think business suits with pants on women are sexy as hell, especially if they wear shirts open at the collar so you can see just a hint of cleavage. Newsbabes especially look nice in pantsuits; CNBC's Maria Bartiromo wears them a lot and she always looks great in them. IMO → Maria Bartiromo As for the thread topic, when I saw Nirvana play in my town circa 1993, I saw a guy in the show wearing a skirt. Well, I still maintain that skirts are impractical, and I wouldn't really think a guy wearing a skirt was 'cool', unless it was a traditional thing and worn only for some 'cultural' occasion. I received this in the mail today. [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] posted by ryder |
