Distinctive Pools had my spa replastered and did a really lousy job. It is discolored and rough. When selling his services, Walter made me believe in his quality of work, knoweledge and reputation. Until now, I cannot get any one from his company come out and do something about it. My spa is still unusable. I am glad I did not fall for his knoweledgeble opinion to fully renovate my pool. After reading all the negative posts here, I started thinking about filing a complaint with local courts. I am sure if we unite in this matter, Distinctive Pools will feel it! how can this company still be in business? They do lousy work. They have lousy customer service. Ask for references. Ask for more than 2 or 3 and don't be shy about calling them. I made the mistake of believing Walters BS about his experience. I went with him and looked at a couple pools he did. Remarkably no one was home when we went to look. He must have known the people worked. He slinked up like he was trespassing. Now after having a pool put in by them I can understand why. He probably owed them some warranty work. Do yourself another favor and hold bak 20% of the invoice until the work is completed to your satisfaction. If you don't you will never get a returned phone call or see anyone at your residence to do the work. If BS built pools they would be the best in the business. We hate our pool. posted by joeyr |

Their advertising and Walters sales presentation speaks of having all their own employees. Truth is there are only 3 actual employees. All the work is subbed out. I was speaking to one guy and the only one that really spoke English and he said the whole group there that day was undocumented. Some mexican and some Guatemalen. Get a copy of his insurance before letting him start work and verify with the agent that wrote the policy. Make sure your homeowners insurance is paid up before letting him start just in case. That is if you are desperate and dumb enough to let him do a pool for you. He says he has done thousands of pools since 1969. Ask him for a dozen references, I bet he cant come up with them. Before he did pools he installed septic systems. Difference is you cant see how bad the finish quality of septic tank work is. posted by joeyr |
