From 12 weeks, unborn babies can stretch, kick and leap around the womb - well before the mother can feel movement
From 18 weeks, they can open their eyes although most doctors thought eyelids were fused until 26 weeks From 26 weeks, they exhibit a whole range of typical baby behaviour and moods, including scratching, smiling, crying, hiccoughing, and sucking. Until recently it was thought that smiling did not start until six weeks after birth. I wonder if with this news there will be new wave of discussions regarding abortions. This kind of shows that foetuses can be considered as "humans" much earlier... On the other hand, such movements are hardly conscious... Any way, isn't it fun? Especially leaping around the womb, huh. [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] [CLICK HERE TO VIEW THIS PICTURE] posted by mymla |

..it's a womans right to choose but also think prevention should be better, too many babies coming into the world by young girls who should have know better. Abortion should be the last resort. posted by Crossfade |

Mymla, when you say that this will cause people to consider fetuses to be "human" much earlier, what kind of a standard are you using for human? I was under the impression that what determines humanity is the genetics not the stage of development posted by Reaganismyhero |

Quote: Mymla, when you say that this will cause people to consider fetuses to be "human" much earlier, what kind of a standard are you using for human? It is not a standrad I am using. Probably it was a wrong choice of words. What I meant was that in the pro-abortions discussions often an argument is used that until a certain age the foetus is only part of the mother's body, there's nothing of a separate human (?) entity kind, and therefore the mother has the right to decide what to do with her body, and therefore it is not a murder of a child. The fact that a foetus doesn't move, doesn't have a separate blood circulation, etc., are all pro abortion. With these new data it is obvious that a child is more "alive" at earlier stages of developement - that's all that I wanted to say. posted by mymla |
