 Ok, not earth shattering news, but I felt I had to share it with someone. This means I am now in a position to post pics of me and my friends and any other tat I find lying around and scannable - you know it is when you get a new toy. First things first, what I got. I looked at what was available locally - scanners by Post is gonna be too much hassle if there's a problem - and checked reviews of models I could buy over the counter. I wasn't looking for anything too flash, just a cheap and cheerful budget USB job to scan my photos in. Since I have a lot of them, speed would be an advantage. The choice was down to two, both at £35 (51 Euros, $61 US, $82 Aus) a 600DPI canon or a 4800DPI Xerox Both good names in the copier world so it was about the reviews. The reviews were pretty much agreed on the pros and cons of each and decided the pros outweighed the cons for the higher resolution Xerox Pros Fast Scanning (Previews in one pass and scans on return pass) Best Software Bundle (Ulead Photo express and Paperport) Resolution (well what can I say, this is pretty obvious) Cons Colours on scanned images too saturated (I can fix this in post) I ended up getting it from PC world (oddly somewhere I wouldn't normally shop for PC bits) So expect some wierd images turning up in posts until the novelty wears off.

Dunno if roundabouts were invented by the British, but it sounds like a typically British idea... A road junction where everyone has to wait
There are some countries that don't have them and some that wish they didn't, I'm told they're not popular in the U.S. but it's only heresay. Anyway, far be it for the Brits to stand idly by and let an idea go stale, there are plenty of middle managers out there who need to take credit for improving something, whether or not it needs it. I took these pics (again back in '91) because when I saw it, I wondered who's definition of "mini" they employed when designing this monstrosity. You know the thing you sit on (no not a chair). Anyway, that's not in the pic

Do you already have a digital camera? gkiss: we can only see your backside ...which is quite attractive i must say Marl, you need to scan your ass for gkiss. Just sit on the scanner and fire it up.

Tiefling: So who's the hot blonde chick in the first pic? That would be Anne, and the guy on her right is (or was) her boyfriend at the time. Tiefling: And what inspired you to get the scanner? The huge amount of photos I have, gradually yellowing with age. I've always meant to get one, but never got 'round to it. Tiefling: Do you already have a digital camera? Strangely enough no, and my cellphone is one of those old ones before phone cams. Wierd eh? Tiefling: you need to scan your ass for gkiss. Just sit on the scanner and fire it up. Nah! wouldn't work, it's only an A4 Scanner
