»Do you believe in ghosts?«

I was just wondering if anyone has any interesting ghost stories to share, do you believe in them? Why? What happened? and so on...

I'm asking because my sister believes in them and swears she has experienced some things. I have not, but have always been curious as to what it might be like.

Because of that, I am taking a little weekend trip to a small town called Jefferson, here in Texas. The town has a ton of history to it and claims to be the most haunted town in Texas. There are several haunted hotels there and I am staying at two of them. One on Friday night, the Jefferson Hotel:

I will be staying in room #19 which is said to be the "most haunted" room in that hotel from various sources. The front desk lady recommended the room to me after I told her why I was visiting.

and then Saturday night at the Excelsior house:

There I will be staying in room #213, the Hayes Presidential Room, the red one...it looks really cool, you can see the room, go to the link for "historic wing rooms". You can also see the rooms for the other hotel by following the liks.

Anyway, a simple google search will bring up a ton of websites with ghost stories and what not about Jefferson if anyone is interested to read anything...here are a couple that i just found and thought were pretty cool:

not really anything to do with hauntings and such, in fact its only really trying to sell a book, but it's cool. I have the book and it's kinda neat. I have family buried in that cemetary.

just a small sample of all that is out there, anyway...we'll see if I believe in them after this weekend...I just wanted to see what everyone else thinks...

Nice. I admire you for being so daring. Nothing has really happened to make me believe in ghosts, but just the thought of staying in a supposedly haunted room would freak me out. I'd go crazy with paranoia over every little tiny noise or thing that I see. Mind tricks would take over and I'd probably come out insane.

If staying in haunted house can make a sane person like noc_anon insane, I'm going to get myself to a haunted house at once and spend a week there. Maybe it will cure me!

allone I can't believe you actually started the obligatory "ghost story" topic on this board.

LOL what a goth! White laugh

Well, it was a fun weekend trip.

It started Friday evening, got into town and ate some dinner at some small local place that I had eaten at some 20 years ago when I was visiting relatives...it was kinda funny because a waitress kept giving me weird looks...she finally came over and asked me if I had been in before...so I told her yeah...about twenty years ago! She then told me that I had some twin running around...meh...

Anyway, I took this little walking ghost tour thing that lasted about two hours. It went through downtown and into some historic neighborhood area. It was kinda cool...all the stories and history and what not. She asked everyone where they were staying and I told her where I would be that night..then she asked what room...then she asked if I requested that room...so I told her yeah, of course, I want to experience these ghosts. She told me not to worry...she had plenty of tales about that hotel and the other that I stayed at.

Anyway, to the point...Friday night...while staying in the famous room 19 of the Jefferson Hotel...nothing happened. Nope...nothing at all. Not a sound, not a feeling, not a vibe...nothing. The building is pretty dang old and the floors will creak if you look at them a certain way...but I didn't experience anything. Of all the stories about that room, like an old woman touching your arm..blah blah blah...nothing happened to me. Actually I kinda just scared myself...I couldn't sleep...I mean, there were a TON of stories about that room alone, and the desk girl gave me the journals and stories submitted by former guests...I got suspicious after reading a certain one...about a woman who took a bath, a hot bath, so the mirror fogged up...and when that happened she saw something on it...someone wrote, "HELP, JUDY, REDRUM"...yeah, clever ghost...to quote something that wasn't around when he/she/it lived...hmm...more like a husband playing osme type of joke on her...anyway, a lot of really corny stories...but again, nothing happened to me.

Same thing at the next hotel...nothing...not even a feeling, cold air rushing by...nothing at all.

Oh well...it was fun. The "excitment" or whatever you could call it.

Actually wait...one thing did happen...it has to do with orbs...

The first stop on the ghost tour was a really old building that had been..um..whatever...a hotel or something...a borthel...hell I don't remember, it's late...aynway, the guide was telling the stories and I was saying to myself "how cliche"...quick question, how come ghosts are only from the turn of the century or earlier? and they are always dressed the same? Anyway, moving on...she was telling a story and this woman in front of me took out a digital camera, she aimed it to a balcony and took a picture...i looked at the womans camera as the picture came out on her screen...that had a pretty bright ball of light right on the balcony. just then the guide told us that we might get things called orbs in pictures and went on to describe what was in the womans picture. weird. i got chills...it was kinda cool...i took some too, and i got "orbs" also...more like reflections of dust or something...they didn't look anything like hers at all...hers looked as though someone was standing up there on that balcony with a bright LED light of some sort and was pointing it right at her...it was not like what i got in any of my pictures...anyway, that was the only thing that was kinda cool about that. well, no i lie...it was neat to hear the old ghost stories and the history of all the buildings, the feeling was cool thoughout the tour, but as a sceptic...i don't know...nothing really happened that stood out to me...except that picture.

anyway, that's all im going to say for now, i was going to go into detail on a lot of the trip and repeat some of the stories...but its late and im tired...and not in a very good mood at all...sorry...anyway, hope whoever was reading this enjoyed it...if anyone was waiting to see...whatever...

I enjoyed your story. Sorry that you didn't necessarily find what you were looking for. I'm going to ask you a off-the-wall question. Was the key to your room on a gold colored, metal, circle key holder that is about the size of a half-dollar, yet flatter? Yes, there is a large amount of relevance to my question.

I do belive in ghosts, and i have always belived in. I actually never saw one until my grandmother died. At her funeral I cryed a lot because i really loved her, and in that same moment I sensed her hand on my face while I was looking at her dead body. I think that it has really happed a ghost moment because she had a very specific touch for all her grand children which i senced it at that moment.

[gi:f5fbb2e004][/gi:f5fbb2e004] Oh my word! a person from the biblebelt that doesn't read the Bible. Dear Allone, read the story about Jesus showing his wounds to the deciples after he was resurrected... the first time that doubting Thomas was present. It says they were afraid and that they thought he was a ghost. He says to them that he is not a ghost. get it? Wherever death and tragedy occurs there shall I be
