If I am right then with this research you could increase homosexual behaviour, too. So it goes either way. Maybe a spin-off will be that women will get more horny, since the research may show that gays have a manipulatable urge towards men. After all, the current theory why homosexuals don't die out is the follwing (since actually they have to die out because they aren't procreating): A gene triggers a strong affection towards men. In women this gene makes it that women like to be with men very much, thus these "gay gene"-women procreate more, thus male gays don't die out. posted by knn |

There are not protests for rights for people with large noses. Do you see where i'm going with this? Homosexuals comprise a minority in our society. This research seeks to eliminate that minority. Crosis: people with large noses are not a social minority. There are no hate crimes because somebody has a large nose. There are not protests for rights for people with large noses. OK, then replace "large noses" by "red hair". Red haired people have been harassed in history as a "demonic minority". I still don't see what is so different in changing red-hair-genes and sex-genes. Is this the same difference as in "Oh, Red Indians are wise men" and "Oh, Blacks have a lower IQ". ? Redheads haven't been harassed as demonic for hundreds of years. Additionally, I don't see any funding going on for experiments to eliminate redheads. knn: Is this the same difference as in

You do know what racism is, don't you, knn?. Racism is a belief in the superiority of your race and in the inferiority of another race. OK well that is officially disgusting, who would waste time and money on trying to cure something that's not an illness. Whatever happened to the sanctity of life and the belief that we should not meddle with natural life(including the natural nad non-chosen homosexuality that is the only homosexuality in existence). Plus, saying that 50% of homosexuals are paedophiles is complete rubbish. Even if 50% of cases of paedophilia are homosexual it doesn't mean that the perpetrator is homosexual, the same can be said of those who rape adults:it's often purely about power and who's accessable to such a person at the time in which they get their "urges". posted by abandon hope |

All prejudice against gays dissapear when we remove the common homophobia and ultra-conservatism. Homophobia usually rises from personal sexual insecurity or fear of loosing common order in society which is based on traditional family. The reality is that traditional family does not play that big of a role in modern society. Governments and consumerism are the basis of todays world. Ultra-conservatism has little to do with true values of conservatism(individual freedom) and serves as a political tool for some powerfull groups of intrest in America, which capitalize on general fears of population by firstly ridiculously exagerating those fears and then promising to protect people against them. posted by keen |
