Heh so I went to the last Gigantour show on the Australian leg of the tour in Melbourne last night, and christ almighty was it worth it. Bands playing were (in this order,) Caliban, Arch Enemy, Soulfly and Megadeth. I showed up after Caliban had finished their set since I hate 'em lol. But Arch Enemy were funking amazing, just heavy as hell, lots of stuff from Doomsday Machine; Nemesis, My Apocalypse and Mechanic God Creation from memory. My Apocalypse was typically awesome but I think in the light start to the instrumental part spot one of the guitars might've been slightly out of tune, and then they finished with Ravenous and We Will Rise. They played a few other songs, but I can't remember what. I'm not a Soulfly fan, but I am a Sepultura fan, so I moshed to them and it was totally worth it, especially with the two Sepultura songs, ha Roots and Refuse/resist for the absolute win. Soulfly were just good moshing music, I didn't know about 2 or 3 of the songs but they were predictable enough to get into the groove of. And then Megadeth were just plain awesome, opened with Blackmail the Universe, and then they played some Peace Sells stuff; Devils Island, Wake Up Dead, Peace Sells. And some Rust In Peace; Holy Wars, Hangar 18, Tornado of Souls. Ha and Symphony of Destruction was just awesome, and so was My Darkest Hour and Mechanix. I'm fairly sure they played Dread and the Fugitive Mind aswell. Plus they played a new song called Washington is Next. So yeah, I sit here with my neck and back in absolute agony from 4 solid hours of moshing and head banging and with my hearing just coming back. Anyone go to Gigantour in America or wherever else it's gone to/going to? Heh you American bastards got a far bigger set, I would've liked to of seen Opeth out of your set but that's it really so I'm hardly fussed. posted by hungarian kid |
