knnknn: Thus if god allows suffer then it raises questions and creates the image of a shady god. Shady is right. I can't help quoting Bill on these subjects - he always seems to hit the nail on the head. Christian: We know how old the world is we worked it out by backtracking the events in the Bible. Bill: So everything that's happen must be in there Christian: Yeah, it's an accurate account of the History of the world. Bill: Ok then, what about Dinosaurs? Christian: No they didn't exist, it's all made up Bill: So where did all the Dinosaur Bones come from? Christian: God put those there to test our faith So, as bill puts it; I really don't like the idea of a God who tries to mess with our heads. God: I know! - Mankind has been pretty loyal so far, I'll try and catch them out with a few Dinosaur bones. knnknn: Quote: we all agree for good to exist evil has to exist as well I don't believe that. It's as stupid as "pain is needed". Pain is not needed. You just need the strong feeling that something isn't right, not the mindtaking feeling of pain. Being concepts, Good and Evil ARE interdependent in the same way as; hot & cold up & down light & dark They are opposites on a linear scale. Even if you eradicated all deeds which are (currently) considered evil, evil would still exist because the scale would adjust. The thing furthest from good would become Evil. The basic definition of good; Quote: Being positive or desirable in nature; not bad or poor:. The only way to eradicate Evil is to remove the scale, thus removing our concept of good. posted by Marl64 |

Wether God wants to stop evil, but can't; therefore he is not omnipotent. Or can stop evil but doesn't want to; therefore he is not good. Or he can't stop it and doesn't want to; therefore he is neither good or omnipotent. Or he can stop it and wants to stop it; but if that were so, evil would not exist. Therefore, since evil exists, there cannot be a good and omnipotent God. That was the original thought of philosopher Epicurean. Just to enrich my previous post on the same topic. posted by Echelon |
