»Why doesn't god stop evil?«

knn:
If god is ominipotent (= can do everything, can stop evil) and omniscient (= knows everything, including the evil that is about to occur) and infinite good (= wouldn't let anything bad happen) then why doesn't he do anything against evil in the world?

ba-ba-ba-bake your noodle...

If God does everything for us, what will be left for us to do. I think God will help us when we truely need Gods help. I also think God wants us to stop evil and to learn from our own mistakes. We need to prove our love for God.

I think you're right. It seems to me that te deeper you search the more need for an opposition to exist is necessary. For example, how would we know good from bad if there is o bad to compare it to. Or, if this life is some sort of trial to see if we are worthy of a higher lifestyle then "evil" would be a form of those trials. Even with the concept of faith. If God wanted us to have faith in him how else can faith be measured exept through opposition.

Why Doesn't God Stop Evil?

Because evil really does exist in reality and god don't.

Well first of all, what or who is God?

What if he's just some lonely nerd who got his hands on some high-tech shi*, and was bored, so he created a place called earth on his computer, and does it in his spare time!

Lol!

Okay...so maybe not, but let's be open minded for a second here. If there is a God, he's probable just like us, but he's been around longer, has more experience, knows how to do more things, and has peeps working for him, who don't yet know as much as him.

Compare the ideas of how god came to be powerful, just as the way people here on Earth come to be powerful.

Why would you trust a person just because they go by the title of God. You can't. And if you've never seen him, then you don't know him.

Generally the more you know, the more you can do.

Think of the lifestyle of 90% of the people of earth and what they do. Wake up, eat a donut, go to work, go home, watch tv, drink bear, go on a date, try to full-fill their daunting sex desires that they haven't yet learned to overcome or control, then say a few words to their mate, and go to sleep...then it starts all over again. Hmmm, does it sound like people are really learning a lot...i don't know...does it sound like these are the kind of people that are going to become gods if they were alloud the opportunity to become one...hmmm, i don't know.

Now think about the other 1% of the people who are living well, and who aren't poor, and who contribute in big ways to the world, who invent things, and better ways of doing things, and who can do anything they want, and who are no one's slave...! Those are most likely or could be considered Gods or Kings or Lords in a world like our own...but we just call them rich and very powerful and influential, because you see, as long as they keep us pressed down and in need of assisstance, and not able to pick ourselves up, and we always need them for help and money, then we become their bit*hes or slaves, and will do anything just to get by, because we don't have anything. Now if God is anything like this and we are his slaves, then i won't do anything he does or wants, and he can't make me.

However, i believe that things aren't so clean cut. There's got to be tons of Gods out there. And they all use the same system...FAMILIES, in order to have power and to be able to do things. But, i also believe that when you leave earth, you are going to continue learning if your eternal parents like you, or if they don't then, you might be put in a very dark place until you learn to behave, and no power or opportunity will come your way unless you learn to please your eternal parents.

So, don't screw up your experience here on Earth. Even if you are powerful here, your power does not carry on over to the other side with you, because who knows, Bid D (Daddy in the Sky) may decide that you are not the kind of person he needs around screwing up his nice set-up in the clouds, and he just may decide to put you in a place away from his with limits to your creation and ability...He knows your thoughts, and your intents, but to give you the ultimate test where Big Daddy in the Sky leaves you alone at home (on Earth) for a few days, is where He will get to see how you truly act, and when you mess up, if you'll ever get a clue and come clean again. It's up to you man, to become better or to prove to yourself who you want to be, but once you die and leave and go back to Daddy's Kingdom in the sky, you better hope he's glad to see you again, because if not, you just might have to do it all over again.

Earth is the ultimate test. Where you forget everything, almost, and are sent to a Trainings ground where you are given a test suit with unlimited abilities, but yet with limited power to see what you will do, when you don't think Big D is around. So, just remember that when you walk outside every day and look up in the sky. He knows. So don't sweat it, just change!

So, why doesn't God stop Evil...well i just clued you in...it's an ultimate test scenario...where Big Dad in the Sky leaves you on your own to see what you will do. He'll help you out no doubt, but you've got to be doing good things to get his attention, otherwise he won't waste his time. Big D wants to see what you will do when placed in a situation with opposition and challenges. I'm pretty sure he hates to do it, but it's got to be done, he doesn't want little traitors running around his kingdom creating problems. It's a test. It's real, but at the same time it's not real, but that doesn't matter, what matters, is what you do next...and believe me, it matters! So don't screw up, and if you do, look around, you're still here, so say your sorry, now that you know, and try to do better. There's only so much that Big D allows himself to do to interfere in your life and your progress, because if he interferes to much, it could throw off the test results.

So, God doesn't stop evil, that's your job! But just make sure you are right, because this is a test, and you are going to account for the things that you do after this life. And it will determine what comes next for you.

So, i wish you good luck if you are a good person, and bad luck if you are an evil person!

Re: Why doesn't god stop evil?

[quote="knn"]If god is ominipotent (= can do everything, can stop evil) and omniscient (= knows everything, including the evil that is about to occur) and infinite good (= wouldn't let anything bad happen) then why doesn't he do anything against evil in the world?

I'll preamble my answer with this warning: religion is just as much a product of our brains as the concepts of good and evil. If you approach this question from a *religious perspective; you're wasting your time, because there is no truth in religion; only conjecture, emotion, and blind faith. Blind faith has never answered any of the questions that have plagued us as human beings, and it never will. I'll ask you, before you read on, to refine your faith as I have, toward the combination of fact and the possibility of transcendence.

Evil and good are constructs of human memes in an effort to categorize our behaviour into two bland and oversimplified tiers. The earth revolves around the sun whether you sin or not. God created the Universe; in fact it was his ultimate creation, so the best way to gauge what God's opinion of good and evil are is the universe's reaction to them. Which is exactly nothing. Good and evil are products of a consciousness which was produced over the course of hundreds of millions of years of evolution; they are evolution's power of indirection at it's best. What better way to protect societal humanity than the evolution of a meme that represents favorable(good) and unfavorable(evil) behavior?

Would you say its evil to immediately murder your partner after sexual intercourse? A female praying mantis would purport that doing so is perfectly "good," because it follows the laws of it's nature, and the perpetuation of its genes. Would you then say that praying mantises are "evil"? Of course not. They simply ARE, and we ARE a thinking, moralizing automaton, improved over millions of generations of mutations to create societies and eventually dominate the earth because of genetic superiority.

Before you can ask yourself why "God" doesn't stop evil," you must first ask yourself if evil or for that matter good, are truly universal aspects of reality. Is evil the same here as it is 400 light years away? Would all other civilizations (alien) have developed exactly similar concepts of such good or evil?

Saying that God "gave us" the "ability to do good or evil" isn't exactly accurate. God may have started the course of events through indirection (the big bang, evolution) which would endow upon us large brains capable of making moral judgments, recognizing patters, and constructing models; but that still doesn't give us a clear-cut definition of good and evil.

So why doesn't he stop tsunamis and murderers? Because we are monkeys. Monkeys which die from time to time for no particular reason. He doesn't CARE if a hurricane ravages a city. What interests God is the net-end result. The beginning and the end. There is no intervention for the in-between; only the sinister and calculated inevitability of the accelerated big bang, and the decelerated big crunch. You think that God gave us all these quantum mechanical, chaos mathematical, and string theoretical hints for no reason? He knew exactly what was going to occur from the moment he made this universe until the moment it was going to end.

He doesn't intervene because these things are SUPPOSED to happen. Isaac Newton often said that he could predict any event in the universe with enough data. Of course he didn't quite understand that all the data in the universe follows a dichotomy of chaos and order; the former of which we are unable to quite predict (even with our powerful Turing machines). But God on the other hand, would have that advantage fully at his disposal.

Even if there is universal good and evil, are you really that arrogant that you can pretend to know what it is? I'd say that when we understand exactly what universal* good and evil are, we will be on par, or at least close to on par, with God himself. But we are a very long way from that level of transcendent understanding.

My personal advice? Sit back and observe the changes that are occurring to humanity as a result of science. When world hunger is destroyed, when aging is defeated, cancer, disease, and even death are conquered; when poverty is only the afterimage of a nightmare, where then will evil be?

ETA for the singularity: 15 years.

God stopped evil at Calvary.

The prophecy "... that sin may have an end ..." was fulfilled when Jesus Christ died for our sins at Golgotha. There is no going back in time to change this as this is part of God's plan.

I agree with Edward. But in a broad range spectrum. People always ask, "Why did that happen to those people, they were not murderers or rapists. Why do bad things happen to good people?"

The answer to that statement is simple. Who said they were good people? If the standard of what is good come from people who are already corrupt, then what we say is instantly disolved. If i tell someone I did something good, then I negated that fact. Because I was trying to brag. Which has to do with pride. Now im not some crazy person saying sinners repent for the end is near. Im trying to say we are not good people. Not even me. Im a terrible person who lies, manipulates and uses all kinds of ways to corrupt others. Yes, I am a christian, yes I try my best, but i always fail. Jesus was the answer to all the sin we created. God didn't create sin, we created sin by not listening to him in the garden. I saw we but i really mean Adam and Eve. Mostly Eve, but Adam is to blame as well. I often joke that he is to blame for why I have to work for my whole life.

I think if people can look past there own arrogance and see that "Hey, there is something bigger than me out there. I wonder what it is" Instead of saying "Those who believe in a higher power are stupid and cant see the big picture. They are morons for believing that there is a God"

I think if Athiests and all religions could tolerate eachother this world would be a better place. The arrogant Athiests have burned me to the point where I don't believe there are good athiests out there. Just like some christians have burned some athiests in the same way. It sucks. Jesus loves everyone for who they are. Its life for life with him.

Sorry for rambling but, I just needed to say it.

why would be bother. i'm very much of the 'if God is real, then he's letting us get on with our own shiz' school. maybe we werent created perfect, or half done. maybe we were just made the way we were, and turned out how we are. and its just the way it is. the concept of evil and good are man-made terms, so we define what they are just as we continue to be both good and evil. what do they really even mean anyway...

God is good and just

By theology:
The Omnipotence of God doesn't mean that God can do everything in general, but means that God can do everything what is possible to be done. For instance, God cannot change the rule 1+1=2.
