He may be a good man but his books are fiction masquerading as fact...I've looked into "Chariots of the Gods" before...

Don't worry, everybody, who has the whole picture, _IS_ already laughing.

You know, I have a whole book (by the Jehovah's witnesses) about Ezeciel's "adventures". The interpret it as a prophecy.

They consider the whole book as a vision and everything as a symbol (just like John's revelation). The throne means X, the steam means Y, the movement means Z.

Unbelievable.

I recently read something about the cargo cult of John Frum .

Cargo cult means that a religion was created because someone misunderstood technology and thought "it must be a god", like in the following case:

GIs (approx 1940) were stationed at Vanuatu (an island). Maybe someone introduced himself as "John from the US" which then became in the religion of the inhabitants: "John Frum", the saviour.

The believers still tell today that they saw a flying bird that was very loud, called "ara-plan".
"And Ara-Plan is fighting."

And when he saw the other strange machines (trucks) he thought "that gods stink too".

At first John Frum "appeared" in front of Nikiau Animolly (an inhabitant of Vanuatu).

And oh, John Frum will return one day.

It reminded me very much of the religion of the bible.

The only problem is... we have are unclear of what Ezekiel is describing, unlike the 'Ara-Plan' and 'John Frum'.

Why unclear, he describes it pretty well.

Re: Ezekiel

UC:
The four Living Creatures with wings are "not" part of a spaceship as we, in our day, could possibly describe a spaceship.

Put it this way: horses can't possibly be part of a chariot. However in a sense, you must admit, they ARE part of the chariot.

This throne appears to be a space ship because it is a flying machine which can fly way above the clouds. Unless you still subscribe to the view that heaven lies just above the clouds then you must accept that on a non-mythological reading of Ezekiel this throne does appear to be a flying mechanism capable of flying into space (at very least we are dealing with an anachronistic flying machine).

"The beauty of the Superman came to me as a shadow. What are the gods to me now!"

Let me also add that the driver, ahem god, is also described:
and seated above the likeness of a throne was a likeness with a human appearance. And upward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were gleaming metal, like the appearance of fire enclosed all around. And downward from what had the appearance of his waist I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and there was brightness around him

In other words: Some guy was a driver, dressed in some silver suit. Like Michael Jackson White laugh

Fun apart: The flyer probably had some metally space suit on.

It's actually funny to see that Christians (but especially Jews) are praying to some alien. And indeed: Whenever a scientist tries to invent something they shout "Scientist plays god".

Why does god need a spaceship?

God needs a spaceship because the nutcases who believe in alien abductions/visitations are more often than not the same nutcases who believe in a hodge-podge of religious/spiritual/supernatural explanations for anything their little brains cannot immediately explain.
