You get to personalze your character with things you buy with gold you get. You can get gold by just clicking on things. Then when you get a certain amount of gold you can buy a pass that alows you to trade with any of the other 920,000 users. Then you can also buy a vending pass to sell things to other users. That's why it's so great. posted by HappyDagger |

A lot of people from GaiaOnline.com posted here as guests! It sounds kind of like another online interactive pet game called I used to be obsessed with Neopets...now, I bet my account is frozen from lack of use... I'll post a picture of my "dying" Neopets if I can... posted by nocturnal_anonymous |

I know this thread is on GaiaOnline.com, but Neopets sounds really similar to it...I'm posting a picture so you guys can get the feel of the ...ahem..."Fun" in these websites. You are supposed own 1-4 Neopets and buy or get food for them to eat. Then you can play games or complete quests from "Neopia" to earn "Neopoints" to buy stuff like toys, weapons, or food. You can also go to Battlefield to battle with other Neopets (this is the only cool part! Yah, the reason I'm here at all was because I was searching for a way to skip over the sushi server when its down. Gaia is more than just a forum. its a huge anime-role-playing forum. For all the anime/manga lovers. It's extremely popular, with many activites, from posting and surfing to earn Gaian Gold (to buy clothes to dress up your anime avatar), to buying/commisioning (amazing well-drawn) anime pictures, fanfictions, etc, etc, etc... Its just really fun. Everyone should try it! posted by jaderabbit |

The reason some may believe Gaia is "lame" is because they simply aren't fans of anime/manga. Anime is what Gaia is based on. If you don't enjoy reading Japanese based manga (comics), then simply don't go! Simple? Don't force yourself to try something you don't like and badmouth it. Besides, comics are mainly for people under 16-18 years old. Then you become "grown-up" and you start to lose the fun in a lot of things. It really sucks, it does. I pity you. posted by jaderabbit |

True, true, I cannot provide real proof, because: 1.) I'm 15 2.) Even if I was 18+, how can I explain it? 3.) You won't believe it anyways -_-' I just looked at my post, and realized I made a mistake, I stated that comics are mainly for people under 16-18. Correction: manga comics, not comics. This cannot provide real, hard proof that states such, but I can say that a lot of manga are directed at teens, and rarely are there such manga that relate more "adult" themes, therefore making it less enjoyable for adults, so I can only conclude that the Japanese authors created their manga for teens and "kiddies". (lol, I find that word extremely amusing Besides, a lot of "adults" look down upon manga/comics and such, calling it childish, as you clearly see in the above posts. But still, all I can say is: If you don't like it, then don't do it, no need to ruin the fun for others, right? posted by jaderabbit |
