The ONEder Man: what was that thing about pediphiles again? now *onderman is worried* You cannot join if you are < 13 right? So the majority will be 14+, 15+ and so forth. That's not a pedophile playground then... It's teens and youth and young adults. posted by knn |

I met a ten year old on Gaia. I think you just need parent permission if you're under the age of thirteen. The site is supposed to be PG-13, but it's not even close. posted by iklbug |

and you couldnt tell either...you think the 10 and 11 year olds cant just say they are 13 and go on in anyways? i was never 18 when i ws like 13 looking at porn on the net. but i clicked yes everytime posted by Agent Zero |

Yes, but for those people who are under 13 and put their correct age are usually asked for parents permission. But all the site asks is that you read the rules. If you're under 13 then you check the box that says "I am under the age of thirteen and I have read and understand the rules with my parents" or...something like that. So I guess you can just pretend that you have parent permission. *Shrug* posted by iklbug |

iklbug: So I guess you can just pretend that you have parent permission. When I signed up for stuff where it asked if I had my parents permission as a kid, for some reason I was more okay with putting my age down as older than saying that I had my parents permission. You know, the old ‘I was really born in 1901 instead of 11 years ago’? Yeah, I was one hip grannie. Besides, kids are more likely to lie on the signup and then tell some random stranger how really old they are (unless they are taught better. "How old are ya, cutie." <IGNORE><REPORT AS HARASSER> mwa ha ha ha…). Gotta love kids. posted by Pedgeki |

I normally always give my correct age for things I register for, but that's not important I guess. Another thing that's good about Gaia...I'm not sure if anyone has said it yet, but really, in my opinion, Gaia is very eye-catching. The colors and characters, special fonts and type, characters on the site that help out...those kinds of things. A bad thing...well, luckily most of you probably haven't looked around Gaia, but there's some kissing spree going on. "Misletoe Madness" it's called. What the hec? The forums were all full of crap threads of "Kiss me I'm Gaian!" Strangers 'kissing' strangers just to see the little avatars at the top of the screen close in on eachother for a pixelated kiss. I logged off and didn't get back on for the rest of the day. I didn't think it could get worse, even if only by a bit. Somehow I still like the site, though I will not be partaking in the whole kissing thing. posted by iklbug |

And such kissing avatars? Me wants links to be havin this proven to me! Seems a preeeetty stupid idea, but then again the pretty colours and avatars keep all the easily entertained minds addicted, amused, attached, whatever you wanna call it! It seems a stupid little function to keep them, I mean... Knn added things like being able to edit polls, that was a fucking good addition, and IMO so it's easier for him to determine who's worthy for the job of moderation... seems better adittions then kissy kissy and well... kissy threads! Ok, our users have abusive threads, commenting threads, philosphical threads... how does that compare to kissy kissy threads do you think? posted by hungarian kid |

You can edit polls on Gaia. The voters just can't retake the poll...I think. You'd have to be a member to actually see the 'kissing' because you click on the avatar you wish to 'kiss' when you're logged in and then...yeah, your avatar just kisses at the top of the screen. I don't find the need to compare the threads between the two sites. I think it's fairly simple to see which has the better discussion. I'm not giving a link because I don't wish to go on Gaia at the moment. This stupid misletoe thing is going on til New Year's. posted by iklbug |
