sangu: Intelligence by itself doesn't get you far. But I.Q tests don't measure intelligence so it doesn't matter, I.Q tests measure you'r ability to take I.Q tests. sangu: wait, you took it 3 times? hah. to my credit, i took it once. so i guess i do beat you. can't take it again though, i looked at the answers. It's an awesome site but it's soo hard to get gold. you can only go back and forth on the map, post journal entries and forums so many times, but it's just so hard to gain. If you could have a job or play some kind of game other than fishing (which is also useless because you PAY for that too!) It would make it a -lot- better. If I'm wrong, someone -please- give me some advice on it. posted by Jucepe on gaia |

Jucepe on gaia: If I'm wrong, someone -please- give me some advice on it. Get a good MMORPG and make money on that. Sort of makes sense if most the people on there care more about the money then posting in the forums. posted by hungarian kid |

If you're talking about gaiaonline.com, I think it's a great site. To make easy gold, I buy the items, then sell them at a higher price. I suck at drawing. unfortunately websense is now blocking gaia and I can't get on how I used to by finding an individual thread, then logging on from there. By the way, this is a nice web page. I'm making one for school, in school. posted by Moi Et Toi |

knn: Is there any link to a Gaian who is rich (= has the most Gaia gold). I want to check his posts and whether he is a really good poster) I would like to inform you that the richest gaian is Teh Sexx. She has a halo plus everything else on gaia. The richest one's are always on the exchange. What the famous one's do is, sell stuff like an OMG Hat normally 600k, but for 800k make a profit then buy it again for less than 600k, understand. I'm kinda an exchange a-holic. posted by Moi Et Toi |

Well, I signed up and looked around the place a bit. The site is NOT about the 'serious' forums. The games they play with dressing up their avatars and trading and what-not are what keeps "those kind of people' hooked. The forums are just a place to find other people who do the same thing. I don't think they should have made it a discussion forum. Perhaps they could have kept the "gaianess" separate from the discussions, if they wanted something serious. You will not find the richest gaian having the best posts, knn. They're not IMO.org, they don't reward on basis of content of posts, you get more "gold" by clicking around, than you do by posting in the forums. For example, I received 400 gold because I signed up, and it started increasing exponentially once I went around the site. But I received next to nothing (comparatively) for posting. This is probably why there are so many post-whores there. The creators themselves don't put emphasis on the quality of the forums. The only reason that place is so big is because of the game. The people who sign up for that are encouraged to look around the forums to socialize. Very few are there to discuss seriously, and many times the ones that do are thwarted by one-liners and eventually give up or settle into the stupidity. You only need to compare IMO.org to their 'ED' section.
There have been some intelligent (or at least, seemingly well educated) responses in threads that have gone to seed because of people saying a lot of illogical crap. In that deluge of posts there are of course some sensible things. BUT.. Don't make the mistake of comparing your discussion forum with theirs, because theirs is only an add-on to their central anime theme, and 'discussions' of the IMO kind are few to be seen. The site is addictive, sort of like gambling. You get paid for clicking around, come on.. "ooh just 2293 more gold to go to get myself that cool new hat, why not just stay here the rest of the night and not use my brain at all and earn that!" There are games and 'celebrations' that encourage people to join thinking it'll be fun, and oh let's post-whore a bit along the way. Sure, they have a large member base, but they've signed up for the games, they've signed up to show off their achievements (=stuff they buy by 'earning gold'), they've signed up to fool around for awhile, they've signed up to chitchat when bored or talk to their friends online in a fun environment, but they've not signed up to debate. You do not want your forum to turn into that. Incidentally, they're still in Alpha. I don't suppose you're bothered about the site much now, but I just thought I'd add my experience to it. (oh they're on wiki) See also posted by ryder |
