»Just how much religious freedom does the U.S. have?«

It's been said many times - sometimes by me - that Bush's policy on terrorism seems awfully biased towards terrorists of a particular religious persuasion.

It's also been said that the U.S.A. is a land of religious freedom, free from persecution based on beleifs.

I'm curious then how the U.S. goverment reflects its people in terms of religious denominations.

Does anyone know (for example) how many Muslims sit in the big chairs compared with Christians, Jews and Satanists White laugh

Hawaii

I do know for example that Hawaii has serious issues over the inclusion of "God" in certain things which are supposed to represent the U.S. as a whole.

Like the constitution, mottos etc.

"In god we trust" apparantly doesn't represent their high buddist, taoist and athiest population.

Catholic...

Being Catholic I know that unless you're in a city or area w/an over-whelming Catholic population (Boston, Chicago), you've seen very few Catholics rise to power. In fact, I think there's only been one Catholic U.S. President...JFK.

Catholic Stronghold...

Yeah, it is. Especially in the Boston-area. Boston has an extremely high Irish-Catholic poplulation. Also, in most of the families w/money (e.g. The Kennedy's) live around the area. And it's a fact that in the modern-era, very few middle-class people have risen to power in govt. in the U.S. 99% of the time the people come from money.
