»Who created God?«

Here's the most common question in everybody's mind. We all ask ourselves this very question; it's just that many of us just don't like to accept it or are afraid of what others might think. I, have personally asked this question to many Christians and have never got a satisfactory answer.

Let the discussion begin!

Wisdom

It depends on how you view God. If you think of God as a human figure, good personified, all-powerful, all-knowing, having emotions, etc., then it is a difficult question. Either there is a definite precursor to God, some previous Father/Mother or whatever, or God is this eternal being.

If, however, you think of God as simply the glue that holds the cosmos together, (like the Force) or the sum of all energy, or other esoteric ideas of God as not a being, but becoming, then the answer is simple, because the question is moot! In a way, we created God. But that is too simple, and VERY misleading. Better to say that we ARE that which we call God, and when we reach a certain level of wisdom, we will become like gods ourselves.

Qabalah teaches that Consciousness came from Wisdom and Understanding, and yet Wisdom and Understanding arise from Consciousness. It is an expression of the Holy Trinity. So God creates himself, as it were.

It might not be a satisfactory answer for you; but if you don't like the answer, there's only one place you're going to find a better one. Wink

Much to learn, I still have.

You haven't answered the question

OK, so if we all (including the stars, black holes and prisons) make "god" then who created god? The question stays.

Quite right...

...That was quicker than I expected! Smile

The 'All is One' idea - the perennial philosophy - gives an esoteric explanation for the creation of the cosmos. While the concept is relatively simple, it is not easy to explain. But I will try:

Before the universe was created, there was One. One was everything, and it was nothing. It existed, and yet did not exist. There was only the Void, and the One was the Void. Then the One awoke; it became Conscious. It stirred in the Deep, and knew that it was. But, it did not know WHAT it was, and from this first thought, the desire to know, came the Primal Syzygy, Deep-Silence, or Consciousness-Psyche. The One became Two, because Consciousness is not Conscious if it has nothing to be Conscious of.

The syzygy can be described as essence and appearance. The Essence of the One is Consciousness, but it Appears as Psyche. Consciousness is the witness, Psyche, the experience. Then, as Psyche begins to experience, it must have something to experience, and Psyche splits into syzygy, as Imagination and Sensation. Sensation, needing something to sense, splits once again, becoming Mind and Body, us.

According to the schools of perennial philosophy, then, it is our task to climb back up that ladder of syzygies, to return to the Source of All, the One Consciousness. We must transcend all our identifications of self - body, mind, spirit - to reunite with, and become, God.

He ''is''

Nobody created God...like Jesus says. ''I am'' And we all know that God=Jesus and Jesus=God...

So...God wasnt created, he just ''is''

Also God dosn't live in a word with time...if soemthing was to be created then the creator would be before him thus making time...

Silly questions, silly answers!

In the scientific age no doubt many people will find Annaerullo's answer to what God consists in very wooly, airey fairy. However, it must be said that it is, at very least, inspiring in a way that traditional Christian views do not seem to be.

The question "since when is God?" is not answered with "since the beginning". God is meant to exist even outside of time. God is eternal, not everlasting (many people mix up these terms). Everlasting means existing forever, but eternal means existing forever irrelevant to time. Put it this way for example the concept of a triangle as a three sided shape would still work as the definition of a three sided shape EVEN if no such shape existed. In the same way God would exist even if no time existed because he is beyond it. The thing is that nothing eternal is found in our experience of the everyday and, as such, there seems to be no reason to believe in such a thing.

Humans are more than just their bodies, but to deal with the problem of saying 'let's commit suicide and be released from our bodies' Paul points out that we will have new spiritual bodies at the resurrection (because we could not exist without being embodied).

I think some people, Annerullo in paricular, will be interested by the ideas of Martin Buber. Buber describes human connection with God to be found in our interactions with others (interactions with people and/or objects!). See what you think:

Actually, the most common question in my mind is what's for lunch, followed closely after by what's for dinner. I'm usually too sleepy to worry too much about what's for breakfast.

However, Christians would argue that nobody created God, that God has always existed, and that God is the only uncreated thing (the "uncaused first cause").

Who created God?

My guess is Man, man created God. that's where he comes from.

He probably created God to answere questions that can not be answered.

How was the world created?

Where do we go after we die?

What will doomsday be like?

What is the purpose of life?

Etc, etc.

We created a God just like us. In our Image.

Do you guys agree?
