Punishment sucks

would probably scare alot of criminals out of doing what they were doing

Punishment doesn't scare anybody away to not commit murder.

Does not the U.S. Constitution Bill of RIghts, in the 8th Amendment, say that no "cruel and unusual punishments" shall be enforced?

Burning people alive is a bit extreme, cruel, and unusual. Shocked

I still second that quote I quoted before.

Getting given a choice of death would rule.
I'd choose getting chased by Tony Robbins into a volcano. And Tony Robbins would have to be saying "ME BIG HUNGRY!"

*For those that don't know, Lurch was the doorman/piano player for the Addams' Family.

its barbaric but it would probably scare alot of criminals out of doing what they were doing

the problem is, just as knn puts it, not too many have been scared away by a death penalty. or any kind of punishment. so probably there's no sense in it whatsoever. you won't prove to the man that he has done wrong by burning him, and won't undo what he has done. so what's the point?

Prison has a few functions and one of them is to keep criminals away from society to prevent further harm. BUT: Prisons as resocializing machines, prisons as punishment is contested.

You know there is a saying: Noone in prison is guilty, meaning that everybody in prison thinks "I had my reasons to do what I did"
