No I didn't say that. In all of the visible racial characteristics that define "whiteness" in the US, Michael Jackson has been changed from black to white. Therefore he is now white.

Oh, come on. The poll question is "Who is the bigger artist of all times?" and I think the appearance can be included in that. After all you'd say, Michael Jackson has impressed me, he looks like an alien. posted by knn |

Crossfade: MJ is the biggest(or he used to be) Madonna has done some great songs but she hasn't affected music in the same way Jackson has. I thought this was one of the most appropriate things to say for this thread.  knn: The poll question is "Who is the bigger artist of all times?" and I think the appearance can be included in that. Media presence as a whole then? Time for vote-change.. knn: he looks like an alien I used to have scary thoughts of him being from the future. What if we evolve Into versions of him?

Are you. kidding. me. Nope, look at his face. So zombie-like, that nose too sharp, the face sculpted in some oddly disturbing manner, the way he holds his shoulders and stuff. Perhaps he wanted to create an image of purity or something (pure white, pure innocence), but I seriously used to think he looked like something from the future, not the past.  And come on, just turning double-digits years old and looking at that face isn't a very cherished memory. But I'm off topic here.
Nocturnal, who have you heard about more? Do you know any of Madonna's older stuff? I certainly did not. I didn't know she'd done a lot of what she'd really done and was considered famous, didn't know until maybe a coupla years back. posted by ryder |

*deep breath* LOL! I'm a mega madonna fan. i also grew up in the 80's when Michael was "the king of Pop" and Madonna was gaining on him FAST. Obviously you can't deny that Michael's achievements are rare and will quite possibly never be matched. his thriller album is double diamond and the highest/biggest selling album of all time. HOWEVER, Madonna has cracked the "diamond" club as well, she's the most successfull female recording artist on the globe (not to be confused with Mariah who is the most successfull STATEside). at THIS point in their careers, i would say its obvious Michael is a falling star while Madonna has managed to stay relevant. her last album was a world wide smash, she continues to tour to sell out crowds (her confessions tour was among the top four grossers in the u.s. in 2006) and people are still wondering what she will do next. Madonna herself as conceded that she knows she's "not the best singer, the best dancer (even though that's what her original aspiration was), or actress" but love her or hate her, Madonna IS THE Entertainter that no one will ever forget and unlike Michael, she has always managed to REBOUND from her controversies, and they manage to some how become part of her legend where as Michael has become something of a charicature...known more for his bizarre and questionable choices/actions than for his music. Madonna and Michael BOTH have earned their place in music history, both have set records that no one else has a prayer of breaking, BOTH have become icons and legends in the realm of pop, entertainment and even fashion. posted by MadonnaXOX |
