 I've got a thorn in my side called 'Reality TV.' This crap has all but taken over the airwaves, and WHY? There is nothing 'REAL' about it, anyway! There is nothing I find more insipid; even if these people's televised lives actually were the same as their real lives (unlikely), why does anyone think I would care? The only reality TV I can handle is the stuff on Public Television, and the 'learning' channels (like History, TLC, Discovery, etc., and since I don't have cable anymore, I can't watch these either). At least that kind of 'reality' show teaches you (and the 'contestants') something interesting, and/or useful! I think the boom started with 'The Real World' on MTV... I swear, once MTV went on the air (or at the very least, once they stopped actually playing music) the mean IQ dropped ten points. Did I mention I hate reality TV?  posted by annaerullo |

 "Welcome to the desert of the real...ity tv!" I'm afraid the Cult of celebrity and 'fast food' ideology of reality tv have ensnared people without the brains to seek proper entertainment. It would appear that people aren't prepared to work for fame and fortune, Big Brother in the Uk is indicative of this, people go on it to become famous quick. The cult of celebrity means sad wasters look up to these idiots because "they are on tv so they are cool dude!" Television is turning into an opiate for the stupid!  posted by Crossfade |

 i think all it will take to stop the fad is someone dying on one of these shows...i'll put my money on fear factor or survivor for the first... i've heard of a study that shows your brain is more awake when sleeping than when watching tv...now that's sad.. posted by The ONEder Man |

 The ONEder Man: i think all it will take to stop the fad is someone dying on one of these shows...i'll put my money on fear factor or survivor for the first... Do we get a watered down version over here? The "Fear factor" we get is a load of people eating crap and doing "stunts" with an excessive amount of safety equipment, stand by crews and body padding. I can't see where the "Fear" part comes in to it.

 Whew...Thank the Lord that I'm not alone in my hatred towards "reality" TV. It's absolutely ludicrous how popular this crap is here in the U.S. There are more morons in this country than any other...I'm convinced of it by how many people watch this unadulterated pfaff. You're trying to tell me that Paris Hilton & Nicole Richie are so interesting that they deserve not one but two TV shows!  posted by GP |

those two are more anoying than someone singing off key. i hate them so much. paris is a dirty slut who sleeps around hollywood. and nickey is just stupid in general. that show is worse than richgirls on mtv. i hate reality tv. they should just start killing people. cause that's what reality tv is gonna evolve into. death TV. posted by Agent Zero |
