I was just wondering. How many of you here are fans of Guitar Gods like Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen, and such? I would like to discuss them.

Eddie Van Halen is the shit! listened to him since the first album and he has had major influences on rock guitarists.

Also Jimmy Page and Tony Iommi are gods of the highest order!

Joe Satriani is one of my faves too, Malmsteen has great talent but i think he consentrates too much on playing at the speed of light instead of with feeling so i don't really rate him that much now.

I like people like Gary Moore who have a very rock/blues style but have no less skill when i comes to playing intricately.

Jimmy Page is fuckin rocking. Angus Young is one of the best performers I've seen, havn't seen ACDC live? Then you've missed out on seeing Angus Young playing guitar on his back and spinning around.

Yeah, Hendrix was awesome. Definitely the most ground breaking guitar player ever. He was definitely from another planet.

Joe Petrucci

Joe Petrucci is a genius. Eddie Van Halen is just as awesome. They may not play very soulful, but when it comes to pure instrumental skill they're definitely very Advanced. Slash from GNR should be mentioned as well. He can play with feeling and is still very fast.
Jimi Hendrix deserves to mentioned because he was very innovative.
But there are thousands of people who can play better than he could.

Eric Clapton

Eric Claptons considered the greatest guitarist ever. But when he himself saw Jimmi Hendrix he thought he was shit hot. Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page used to jam together in the days befor their super stardom, and quite honestly seemed to benefit from each other.

Jimi Hendrix WAS the greatest guitarist who ever lived. Objective fact. No argument possible.

Clapton can play guitar well - good for him. Hendrix could work miracles with a guitar!

Eric Clapton does indeed suck and Hendrix is a god but the best guitarist ever is Randy Rhoads, he had everything, speed, technical and feeling all in one. Hail the metal god!
